Former Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has been getting rave reviews early on in Washington. According to reports, LJ has been focused and showing plenty of hustle. But Joel Thorman over at SB Nation Kansas City thinks it sounds all too familiar.
Remember last year when LJ was a new man and had a renewed focus on his career? He went from asking out of Kansas City to committing himself to the organization once the Chiefs won an appeal that gave them the ability to take away some of his future bonus money?
I think I’ll give this until week six.
Why must everyone doubt Johnson’s motives and ability to mature?
Oh, right, because he’s never given any indication that he cares about anyone but himself. Not after his embarrassing brushes with the law or during his time with the Bengals after being released by the Chiefs last season.
If I were a betting man and the over/under for LJ’s happiness in Washington is week six, I would absolutely take the under. I’ll go one better: If there is any indication in training camp that Willie Parker is moving ahead of him on the depth chart or even the slightest suggestion that he has to take a special teams snap, Johnson will absolutely flip out.
