After losing David Garrard on Monday Night Football to a concussion, the Jacksonville Jaguars have re-signed journeyman QB Todd Bouman, Jacksonville.com reports.
The Jaguars initially signed Bouman this season in Week 3 after backup quarterback Luke McCown tore his ACL. They claimed Trent Edwards off waivers three weeks ago, then cut Bouman as soon as Edwards was comfortable enough in the offense that he could play.
Well last night disaster struck at the position.
Quarterback David Garrard suffered a concussion, giving Edwards his first playing time in a Jaguars uniform. Edwards was hit quite a bit and spent a very long time in the training room after Monday night’s game against the Titans.
The Jaguars aren’t saying what Garrard’s and Edwards’ statuses are, but these moves tell us there’s definitely concern.
In addition to Bouman, the Jaguars might create another roster spot to add quarterback Patrick Ramsey tomorrow. That’s likely dependant on the health of their current quarterbacks.
Here I figured the Chiefs defense would feast on Edwards who has only had three weeks to learn the Jaguars offense. Now they might get to go up against Bouman or Ramsey? Crennel might be doing a jig during practice tomorrow at Arrowhead. You never want to take a guy lightly because, after all, they are pros… but, c’mon it’s Patrick Ramsey and Todd Bouman.
