The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of seven inactive players for Sunday’s matchup with the Miami Dolphins and there are a couple of new names involved.
CB Javier Arenas, DL Brandon Bair, OL Steve Maneri, S Jon McGraw, NT Jerrell Powe, QB Ricky Stanzi, WR Jerheme Urban
The biggest surprise here is Arenas, who was a late addition to the Chiefs injury report with an ankle injury. Kansas City had RB Dexter McCluster handle most of the returns last week against the San Diego Chargers, so the loss of Arenas shouldn’t have much impact on special teams. It will, however, change the look of the Chiefs defense. Arenas isn’t just the Chiefs nickel cornerback, but also the best blitzing player in the secondary, leaving defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel with one less option when it comes to trying to bring down Dolphins QB Matt Moore.
McGraw is the other change from last week, but not a surprise. He went down with a shoulder injury against the Chargers and wasn’t able to practice all week. Donald Washington should take over for McGraw at safety next to Kendrick Lewis as he did last week after the injury knocked McGraw out.
The rest of the five inactive players were also out last week. Taking the place of Arenas and McGraw on the active roster are TE Anthony Becht and rookie CB Jalil Brown.
