The Kansas City Chiefs placed QB Matt Cassel on injured reserve just before their loss to the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. Cassel’s season is now over and questions will swirl about if he will return to Kansas City in 2012.
The starting quarterback fractured his hand during the game-long beatdown by the Denver Broncos defense last week.
Taking Cassel’s spot on the roster is WR Jeremy Horne, who was promoted from the Chiefs practice squad. Horne made the active roster out of training camp last season and has spent time with new starting QB Tyler Palko on the scout time this season.
For now the Chiefs will only keep Palko and rookie Ricky Stanzi on the roster, but don’t be surprised if they at least bring in a fresh arm to sit on the practice squad the rest of the season.
