John Henderson Cut by Jaguars, Heads To Kansas City

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released former Pro Bowl DT John Henderson and he has quickly garnered plenty of attention.  According to Tom Rock, the Giants are in the hunt, but he currently only has one visit planned.

Agent for DT John Henderson spoke to the Giants as both sides were “exploring options.”  Henderson scheduled to visit the Chiefs tomorrow.

Now this is intriguing.

As good as Ron Edwards has been for the Chiefs, everyone that follows the team knows they need to find more depth at nose tackle.  That’s one of the reasons that Garrett Brown — a recent UDFA — has a chance to make the team in training camp.  But Scott Pioli, Todd Haley and Romeo Crennel can talk Henderson into giving NT a shot then he could take care of any depth issues for the next couple of years.

The fact that he is making Kansas City his first stop has to mean he is open to talking about how he can best be utilized in a 3-4 defense.  And if both sides feel there is a match, Pioli can’t let Henderson leave town.  Obviously the Giants are already talking with his agent and the Browns tried to trade for him before the draft so you know he will have multiple options.

Even a rotation of Ron Edwards, Glenn Dorsey, Alex Magee and Henderson between NT and DE would make for a much better front three than last season.
