Once again the Kansas City Chiefs will be without their first round pick Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Jonathan Baldwin is among the list of seven inactive players.
DL Brandon Bair, WR Jonathan Baldwin, S Reshard Langford, OL Steve Maneri, NT Jerrell Powe, QB Ricky Stanzi, WR Jerheme Urban.
With him being a full participant all well long, there was hope that Baldwin would finally make his debut against the Colts. But with his long layoff, Todd Haley has decided to wait until after next week’s bye to allow the healed Baldwin to try and make an impact.
The Chiefs may have made a mistake by not placing Baldwin on the Physically Unable To Perform List (PUP). He would have missed nearly the same amount of time, but the team would have had one more roster spot to deal with, giving them more flexibility with the 53-man and practice squad rosters.
The other inactive players aren’t much of a surprise. The only difference from last week is Langford back down after he dressed last week in place of the injured Jon McGraw.
It continues to be a head scratcher why Kansas City keeps Urban around. He can’t get on the field without Baldwin playing, so how could they possibly expect him to help once their first round pick is dressed and contributing every week? They would be better off cutting their losses and trying to add more depth at running back or safety.
