For the second time this offseason, we have a report about Kansas City Chiefs offensive line coach Bill Muir retiring. The first came from NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora shortly after the season when he said the coach was “likely to retire“, but that was shot down by Muir at the Senior Bowl to Bob Gretz.
Now Alex Marvez of Fox Sports is reporting Muir will step aside before his 35th season.
So far the only person on the record regarding the future of Muir is Muir himself and he told Gretz he wanted to coach in 2012. Could something have changed in a week? Sure, I would imagine at the age of 69 things change hourly.
It’s curious two well respected reporters have heard Muir won’t be back. Have Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli decided to move on and we are looking at more of a forced retirement? It will be interesting if we hear from Muir again to address his status (again).
