With the 29th pick (93 overall) in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected TE Tony Moeaki from Iowa.
Scouts Inc. assigned a rating of 62 to Moeaki and ranked him as the 10th best tight end.
You can check out his School profile here.
Everyone assumed that the Chiefs would be drafting someone from his friend Kirk Ferentz’ Iowa squad, but no one was talking about Moeaki.
It might get old hearing it, but this is another guy that is definitely one of “the right 53” when it comes to effort. Moeaki is a kid that will go 100mph on every single play, no matter what the situation or who is standing in front of him. The red flags are that he has never had big time numbers and can’t seem to stay healthy.
Moeaki is someone I thought could be had in the fourth round, but Scott Pioli obviously felt otherwise and traded into the back of the third round — giving up picks in the 4th and 5th round along the way — to get his man.
