With the Chiefs roster already at the league maximum of 90, they will need to make a corresponding move with the signing of Jones. The most likely next step is for safety Kyle McCarthy to head for IR after being carted off the field with a leg injury.
Jones has spent most of his career with the Ravens — he made a quick pit stop with the Philadelphia Eagles last season — appearing in 41 games and racking up 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He has also spent some time at tight end, catching two passes for 33 yards.
The five-year veteran joins a crowded group of linebackers trying to be a part of the depth at one of the Chiefs strongest positions.
