The Kansas City Chiefs have added another well known name to their offense, signing Baltimore Ravens free agent FB Le’Ron McClain to a one-year deal.
McClain joins a suddenly crowded backfield with Jamaal Charles, Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster.
According to Aaron Wilson, Chiefs GM Scott Pioli spoke not only with people he knew in Baltimore, but also those at the University of Alabama, where McClain played his college ball.
Last year with the Ravens, McClain never carried the ball more than five times in a game and eight times he only had one or zero carries. In Baltimore’s playoff victory over Kansas City, he touched the ball once: a single carry for one yard late in the third quarter.
There’s no doubt that the Chiefs are a better team now than they were yesterday, but hopefully McClain didn’t come to Kansas City looking for more touches. Besides Charles, Jones and McCluster in the backfield, there is a passing attack lead by Dwayne Bowe, Tony Moeaki, Jonathan Baldwin and Steve Breaston.
