Kuechly Still A Popular Choice For Chiefs At No. 11

The 2012 NFL Draft is quickly approaching and the focus of mock drafts seem to be on a small group of players for the Kansas City Chiefs for pick No. 11. One of those is Boston College LB Luke Kuechly, seemingly a perfect compliment to All-Pro Derrick Johnson.

The latest to project Kuechly to Kansas City is NFP’s Wes Bunting.

11. Kansas City Chiefs: Boston College ILB Luke Kuechly

With the need at offensive tackle addressed in free agency the Chiefs can now look at one of the safest players available in the front seven. Kuechly is a tackling machine with good size, natural instincts and above-average athleticism. Is the kind of talent who can make an impact inside from day one.

This is another scenario that sees Memphis DT Dontari Poe off the board before the Chiefs pick. Considering the recent buzz around QB Ryan Tannehill, it’s worth noting NFP has him being taken by the Cleveland Browns fourth overall.

I’ve long been a fan of Kuechly’s but with the more information we get about who is likely to be available after outside of the top 10, the more I love him for the Chiefs. The Kansas City linebackers would be one of the best units in the league with Kuechly joining Johnson, Tamba Hali and Justin Houston.
