The Kansas City Chiefs made their second move after cutting the roster to 53 by releasing LB Zac Diles, according to Adam Caplan.. Their other transaction also included a linebacker, when they traded Edgar Jones to the Dallas Cowboys for a future draft pick.
With the release of Diles and injury to rookie Nico Johnson, the Chiefs currently only have two healthy inside linebackers. Look for one — or both — new Kansas City players to be inside linebackers.
Caplan noted the Chiefs have been searching for help at inside linebacker for weeks.
Kansas City signed Diles in April after the Kansas State star played for four different teams. His best season was in 2010 with the Houston Texans when he played in 15 games (10 starts) and racked up 82 tackles.
