With the 74th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected OT Donald Stephenson from Oklahoma.
Scouts Inc. assigned Stephenson a rating of 71 and ranked him as the 7th best offensive tackle.

The Blue Springs, Mo. native was the biggest name to take part in the Local Pro Day the Chiefs held leading up to the draft. He started at left tackle for Oklahoma the last two seasons and finally gives Kansas City legitimate depth at tackle, something they haven’t had in years.
It does seem odd to use back-to-back picks on depth along the offensive line when you have a chance to fill holes at linebacker, safety or even running back in the third round.
With incumbent left tackle Branden Albert due to hit free agency after this season, GM Scott Pioli has protected the franchise in case they are unable (or unwilling) to hand out a big contract.
