Along with putting Eric Berry on injured reserve and signing Reshard Langford to the 53-man roster, the Kansas City Chiefs also made changes to their practice squad. The team announced they have added FB Shane Bannon and OL Butch Lewis and released TE Kyle Nelson and OL Lucas Patterson.
Bannon was the Chiefs 7th round pick in April and initially added to the practice squad after failing to make it past the final cuts of the preseason. He was released from the practice squad last weekend to make room for Patterson before the two once again switched places on Wednesday.
Lewis and Nelson were similarly swapped for each other a week ago. After playing a lot of snaps in the preseason, Lewis was a surprise cut at the close of the preseason. He was then added to the practice squad only to be replaced by Nelson a few days later before this latest move reversed that decision… got it?
It doesn’t seem to make sense why these players would switch places in such a short time span, but I think the right guys are on the roster. Bannon has the potential as a special teams player and with the right seasoning Lewis could end up being a serviceable backup offensive lineman thanks to his versatility.
