The Kansas City Chiefs filled an opening on their practice squad Wednesday with the signing of OL Chandler Burden. He takes the place of LB Darin Drakeford, who was released from the practice squad earlier in the day.
Burden signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky in 2012. Though he didn’t stick with the Titans, he caught on with the Miami Dolphins as a member of their practice squad for the season.
The offensive lineman was cut in August and it’s curious he couldn’t find his way back to the Dolphins practice squad considering his familiarity with the system.
When the Chiefs cut ties with Drakeford, it seemed like they were making room to sign one of the tight ends they worked out this week. But Burden helps with another injury-plagued position that has four of the five starters currently on the Kansas City injury report.
