The Kansas City Chiefs promoted WR Jamar Newsome to the active roster from the practice squad just before Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos, releasing OL Rich Ranglin to make room on the roster.
As soon as the team made the move, we assumed Ranglin would be back in a Chiefs jersey as soon as possible. That turned out to be Tuesday when Kansas City officially placed him back onto their practice squad.
The practice squad shuttle isn’t anything new to the former AFL offensive lineman of the year. This is the fourth time this season Ranglin has been added to the Chiefs practice squad. He was finally promoted to the active roster for the first time last week after TE Jake O’Connell was placed on injured reserve.
As the season winds down, if the Chiefs decide to shut down any of their veteran lineman, Ranglin could find his way back to the active roster once again.
