The Kansas City Chiefs rounded out their practice squad Tuesday by adding free agent cornerback Vernon Kearney. There was an opening on the roster following safety Bradley McDougald being elevated to the active roster last week.
With Brandon Flowers and Kendrick Lewis both hurting in the defensive backfield, Kearney gives the Chiefs another healthy body in the secondary.
After going undrafted out of Lane College in April, Kearney signed with the Buffalo Bills but was released in May. He then moved on to the Cleveland Browns for training camp, where he stayed until August 26.
A wide receiver turned cornerback in college, Kearney has a size/speed combination that could help him stick.
