The Kansas City Chiefs made a minor roster move before their game against the Denver Broncos, when they waived OL Rich Ranglin and promoted WR Jamar Newsome to the active roster from the practice squad.
The Chiefs had just promoted Ranglin before last week’s game after TE Jake O’Connell landed on IR. The offensive lineman was expendable with Ryan Lilja and Jon Asamoah both healthy for Sunday’s action.
Newsome was not only added to the 53-man roster, but immediately active and targeted in the red zone by QB Brady Quinn in the first quarter. He first joined the Chiefs practice squad last December and then again after training camp.
Expect to see Ranglin return to the Kansas City practice squad assuming he doesn’t land a job on another team’s active roster.
