Both of the Kansas City Chiefs starting safeties are now rehabbing from surgery. We already knew about Eric Berry, who was lost for the season during the first game of the year with a torn ACL and is fighting to make it back for the beginning of next season. Now he’s being joined by Kendrick Lewis.
Despite playing all of Sunday’s win over the Denver Broncos, Lewis tweeted news of the surprise surgery on Wednesday.
Thank God for today.. I had a successful surgery! #Blessed
The injury occurred midway through Sunday’s game, but the safety was able to play through it, according to Nick Wright of 610 Sports.
Lewis made huge strides this season and the Kansas City duo has a chance to be one of the best in the league sooner rather than later. There’s no word yet on how long the rehab will be, but here’s hoping he and Berry will both be at full strength when the Chiefs open up training camp.
