The Kansas City Chiefs were hoping to get help both on special teams and offense when they claimed WR Kyle Williams from the San Francisco 49ers.
Now just over a week later, Williams is on his way to injured reserve thanks to a torn ACL. His roster spot will be taken by the man he replaced, WR Chad Hall.
Williams quickly got up to speed with the Chiefs offense last week and dressed for Sunday night’s loss to the Denver Broncos. Special teams coach Dave Toub had even talked about utilizing the speedster, but won’t get a chance to see him in a Chiefs uniform again until next year, if at all.
When it was announced it was Hall being cut for Williams, I wondered if he could find his way back to Kansas City. The wide receiver already played for head coach Andy Reid in Philadelphia before making the team with the Chiefs, so he knows the offense and what is expected.
