Dexter McCluster’s House Burglarized
The home of Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster was burglarized in November during a game against the Denver Broncos. While the second-year player was trying to help get the Chiefs past Tim Tebow and the Broncos, a man was stealing $25,000 worth of items from McCluster’s apartment.
According to police, 31-year-old Daniel LaBlance has been charged with one count of second-degree burglary. LaBlance was already on parole for a burglary and as a juvenile was convicted in connection with a 1996 murder according to KCTV.
LaBlance, who clearly isn’t a very good thief, was connected to the crime by DNA left behind at the crime scene. Police say he cut himself while removing a large screen TV from a wall.
Among the items stolen from McCluster’s home was a Chiefs helmet pendant worth $15,000.
A woman that was at the home where some of the stolen items were recovered was also arrested for receiving stolen property.
McCluster, a second-round pick in 2010, signed a four-year, $5,15 million deal with a $2.24 million signing bonus.
Thankfully McCluster and his girlfriend weren’t home at the time of the break-in. The crime is another reminder that NFL players — even those that aren’t “stars” — should take extra precautions to protect themselves against thieves looking to make a quick score.
