Todd Haley met with the media Monday afternoon and had good news to deliver about Maurice Leggett, who was carted off the field during the Chiefs 20-15 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“Everything looks good,” head coach Todd Haley said. “There is nothing spinal or anything like that. He was in a pretty good condition and I think that the trainers and doctors did everything that they were supposed to do as far as taking all precautions. It’s a scary situation, but that part of it is out of the mix.”
Even better, Haley said that he expects to see Leggett return to the practice field “sooner, rather than later.”
“All things are pointing to the fact that this should not affect him career-wise,” Haley said.
Hard to think of better news to come out of Kansas City. We see injuries ever week in the NFL, but anytime you see a guy go down the way Leggett did it’s hard not to assume the worst.
Leggett’s health could have a lot to do with which way the Chiefs go with their final few roster spots. Not only is he competing to be the 4th corner behind Javier Arenas, but he also has shown the ability to play safety and could allow Romeo Crennel to only carry four safeties.
