Lions Release Justin Medlock

The Lions have likely set Justin Medlock back on his return path to the CFL.  Detroit released the former Chiefs kicker today, according to Adam Caplan.

[T]he Lions waived K Justin Medlock and OT Kurt Quarterman.

Medlock got some face time during the Hard Knocks series on HBO a few years ago.

Obviously every player wants to be in the NFL, but don’t feel too bad for Medlock.  He had a fantastic season in the CFL and thought he was going back there after he was released by the Washington Redskins.  That’s when the Lions surprised everyone — including Medlock — by claiming him as a compliment to veteran Jason Hanson.

Medlock was 40 of 46 on field goal attempts last season for the Argonauts and could get another look in the states next season if he has another solid year in Toronto.
