Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles’ quest to grace the cover of Madden 2012 has come to a screeching halt.
After a convincing victory over Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow and a squeaker against Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Charles couldn’t overcome Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis.
Hillis easily cruised by Charles, taking 60% of the vote. He will now have to face the fovrite to win the whole thing in Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. The Super Bowl MVP took out Danny Woodhead of the New England Patriots to advance.
Even though he came up short, Charles was quick to thank Chiefs fans via Twitter:
Thanks for voting! I really appreciate all the support. Didn’t make it to the next Madden cover round but it was fun while it lasted..
Charles seemed pumped for the opportunity to be on the cover, but at least now we don’t have to worry about the “curse” following him and the team around all season.
I wonder if Green Bay fans will hold back on voting for their man as the thought of the Madden Curse becomes much more of a reality.
