Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will be receiving a hero’s welcome back home in Texas as he prepares for next season. Charles will be the grand marshal of the Majestic Krewe of Aurora Grand Parade at Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas.
Charles will ride the Lamar State College-Port Arthur float operated by the Krewe of Gates, which was named after the late Port Arthur millionaire and philanthropist John Gates, who founded Port Arthur College in 1909.
Charles graduated from Memorial High School in 2005 after a stellar gridiron career that included two-time All-State and District 22-5A Player of the Year honors.
Amazing how a kid’s life can change in a year, eh? This might not be as cool as hosting the Bikini Bowl, but it’s right up there.
