After doing little more than observing his backup Brodie Croyle at last Friday’s practice following an appendectomy, Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel was back on the field, in uniform Wednesday, according to Kent Babb.
Cassel is practicing, or at least is in uniform and running during warm-ups.
Huge first step for Cassel as he tries to get back into the swing of things. Obviously there’s a world of difference between running around in practice and getting crushed by a 300 pound defensive lineman, but there are people that didn’t think Cassel would be able to do this much a week after the surgery.
Even if he doesn’t end up being cleared to play, the mental lift of having him out on the field trying to go is something that shouldn’t be overlooked.
