When Matt Cassel gets back from this weekend’s Pro Bowl in Hawaii, he will have another honor waiting for him at his California high school.
Former Chatsworth quarterback Matt Cassel will have his uniform retired during a school assembly at Chatsworth High on Feb. 11.
Cassel, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, led Chatsworth to a City Section Invitational title. He also briefly played baseball for the Chancellors.
He’ll never admit it, but I would bet that Cassel will get just as big of a kick out of the ceremony retiring his jersey as he did when he was named to the Pro Bowl. There isn’t much that measure up with being among the best in your profession, but I’d like to think being honored where it all started.
