The Kansas City Chiefs released their list of 8 inactive players for today’s game against the St. Louis Rams and confirmed the worst kept secret in football: Matt Cassel will be active and start. Here is the full list of inactives.
CB Mike Richardson, S Ricky Price, FB Mike Cox, S Reshard Langford, LB Charlie Anderson, C Rudy Niswanger, DL Anthony Toribio and QB Tyler Palko.
There was no way that the Chiefs were going to give the majority of snaps to Cassel on Thursday and Friday if he wasn’t going to line up and start. It would have been completely unfair to Brodie Croyle and the rest of the Kansas City offense.
Some other interesting notes here that shouldn’t be overlooked. The fact that there are three defensive backs inactive means that Brandon Flowers is likely finally 100% and that both Jon McGraw and Kendrick Lewis shouldn’t be limited at all. It is also a good sign for nickel CB Javier Arenas who took a huge hit during last week’s game against the Chargers.
Also, something that won’t be mentioned by anyone, anywhere, but Mike Cox has flip-flopped with Tim Castille at fullback after the Chiefs failed to get anything done in the running game last week with Cox getting the call. We’ll see if the change back to Castille will help matters this week.
