Matt Cassel Honored In Return To High School

Similar to teammate Jamaal Charles, Matt Cassel is being treated like a hero in his hometown.  Cassel was welcomed back to his high school with a standing ovation as his jersey was retired.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback graduated from Chatsworth in 2000 and made a triumphant return, telling more than 300 Chatsworth athletes during a school assembly to never give up on their dreams.

“The success didn’t change him. He’s the same person,” Chatsworth baseball Coach Tom Meusborn said.

Casseltalked with the LA Times about the message he likes to pass along.

“Never give up on your dreams.  There’s gonna be people that tell you you can’t do it.  People that tell you it’s too hard or go a different route.  But if you have a goal set and you think you can go out there and achieve it then never give up on your dreams, continue to go.”
