Following his impressive performance against the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel has been nominated for FedEx Air Player of the Week. Cassel is up against Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers and Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cassel threw for 257 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions on 21 of 29 passing to lead the Chiefs to their second straight victory.
Rodgers looks to be Cassel’s biggest competition. The Packers signal caller had nearly 400 yards (396) and two touchdown in Green Bay’s 25-14 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football.
Roethlisberger led all NFL quarterbacks with five touchdowns in a 38-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The Steelers QB did that with just 228 yards passing and was intercepted once.
After constantly being honored last year, it didn’t look like Cassel would get anywhere near one of these awards the way he started the season. You can vote for Cassel here.
