The Kansas City Chiefs have signed undrafted free agent safety Neiko Thorpe from Auburn.
Of all the UDFAs linked to Kansas City, this is the one with the best chance to hold onto a roster spot. Not only do the Chiefs badly need help at safety, but Thorpe brings the experience of 40 starts in the SEC with him. He also has plenty of versatility, having started his career with the Tigers at cornerback.
As a senior, Thorpe’s 102 tackles were second on the team while his three interceptions led the defense.
At 6’1″/198, Thorpe has the size to body up NFL tight ends and the 4.4 40 he displayed at the Auburn Pro Day showed he has the speed to make up for some of his weaknesses in coverage.
