News: Chiefs Agree To Terms With Colin Brown

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms fifth-round pick OT Colin Brown, the second member of the 2009 draft class ColinBrownChiefs3to sign joining seventh-round selection K Ryan Succop.

Brown’s contract is a three year deal worth nearly $1.34 million.  The former Missouri Tiger will receive a signing bonus of $154,000.  Brown’s base salaries are $310,000 this season, $395,000 in 2010 and $480,000 in 2011.

As I’ve said before, Scott Pioli clearly drafted Brown for potential since there were much more polished offensive tackles left on the board when they took him.  Brown has incredible size, so if he can learn how to play tackle in a pro-style offense he could be one of the steals of the draft.  Even with all of the problems the Chiefs may have along the offensive line, don’t expect much from Brown right out of the chute.

  1. Dam I like this draft choice. He is a monster.

  2. The potential is most definitely there. You know the old saying: you can’t teach that sort of size… hopefully he can adjust to the pro-style blocking schemes.
