The Kansas City Chiefs today announced four player moves.
They signed TE Sean Ryan, who had been in town this past weekend for a tryout. Ryan was drafted by in the fifth round by the Cowboys in 2004. He has also spent time with the Jets, Dolphins, Saints and 49ers.
The Chiefs also waived OT Andrew Carnahan, LB Curtis Gatewood and WR Kevin Robinson.
Carnahan and Gatewood were signed at the end of last year and Robinson was a 6th round pick in last year’s draft.
Nothing earth shattering here, though Ryan has a connection to Todd Haley from his days with the Dallas Cowboys. Robinson is the second 2008 draft pick the Chiefs have let in the last two weeks along with WR Will Franklin. Just like Franklin, Robinson had a lot of potential coming out of college, but he only managed to dress for eight games. Ryan is an interesting guy, who had his best season with the Jets back in 2006. He played in all 16 games that year, starting 3 and catching 6 passes for 44 yards. At 6-5, 260 he could have a chance to be the team’s third tight end behind Tony Gonzalez and Brad Cottam.
