Mock Draft: Focus Back To Offensive Line For Chiefs

Early on in the NFL Draft process, it seems most assume the Kansas City Chiefs will pick an offensive or defensive linemen in the first round. After a couple of mock drafts had projected defensive tackle Devon Still, the focus is back on the offensive line with the latest mock draft from SB Nation.

Seeing a huge need for improvement at right tackle, Mike Adams from Ohio State gets the call. This is the third straight week they have pegged a tackle to the Chiefs, the last being Iowa’s Riley Reiff.

12. Kansas City Chiefs, Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State

Adams was another big winner at the Senior Bowl. A big fella at 6’7″ 310 lbs, his size and wide body make him a natural at re-routing pass rushers. He still lacks consistency, but will be a big upgrade over Barry Richardson.

For someone like Scott Pioli who has shown no interest in drafting and developing a tackle, it’s hard to imagine him making taking one this high unless it’s a home run. Adams is a nice player, but I don’t think he qualifies, though Reiff would be much closer in that regard. However, in this scenario Reiff is off the board to the Miami Dolphins three picks earlier.

With so many holes to fill, I’d love to see the Chiefs trade back and pick up an extra second or third round pick unless a no brainer pick falls to No. 11/12.
