Chiefs To Face Winless Opponent (Again)

The Kansas City Chiefs picked up their first win of the season last weekend when the winless Minnesota Vikings came into Arrowhead.  Now the Chiefs will get the rare 1-2 punch this far into the season of playing back-to-back teams yet to win a game when they face the Indianapolis Colts.

Even though the Colts nearly pulled off the upset against the NFC South-leading Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football, they fell short thanks to a late 35-yard touchdown run by LaGarrette Blount.

Much like the Chiefs, the Colts are a surprising cellar dweller due to injuries.  While the Kansas City injuries are spread out across several players on offense and defense, Indianapolis’ all belong in Peyton Manning’s neck.

If they plan on getting back into the AFC West race, the Chiefs need to go on the road and take care of business against the Colts.  If they can go into the bye at 2-3, they will then have two weeks to prepare for the Oakland Raiders knowing that win guarantees them to catch Oakland within the division.  The San Diego Chargers would then be up next presenting a chance to get revenge for the Week 3 20-17 loss and reshape the division race.

Things could very well easily go the other direction if the Chiefs hand the Colts their first win of the season on Sunday.  Morale would be even lower than it was following the season-opening three-game losing streak and all eyes would be back on Andrew Luck and the NFL Draft.
