Vote Berry Often (Again)
For the second time in as many weeks, you have a chance to vote for Eric Berry as the NFL Rookie of the Week. The fifth overall pick led the Chiefs with 10 tackles and stopped a potential game-winning drive by intercepting Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Once again, Berry is going up against tough competition.
LeGarrette Blount – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Blount led the Bucs to a 38-35 win over the Arizona Cardinals by rushing for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 carries.
Sam Bradford – St. Louis Rams
Bradford led the Rams to a 20-10 win over the Carolina Panthers, completing 25 of 32 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.
Devin McCourty – New England Patriots
McCourty had four tackles and one interception which led to a touchdown drive in the Patriots’ 28 – 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Ndamukong Suh, DT, Detroit Lions
Suh registered two sacks, four tackles, including two tackles for loss, and put an exclamation point on the victory with a 17-yard fumble return for a touchdown with 1:36 to play that gave the Lions a 37-25 win over the Redskins.
After losing out to Dez Bryant last week, I think Berry is the favorite here. There are some great performances on the board and all of them contributed to a victory but none actually prevented their team from losing. If Berry doesn’t hold onto that duck by Fitzpatrick, the Bills get a shot at a game-winning field goal.
A win this week would give the Chiefs three of the first eight Rookie of the Week awards. Help make it happen by voting at NFL.com.
