Former Kansas City Chiefs kicker Nick Novak will have another chance to kick in the AFC West after signing with the San Diego Chargers, according to National Football Post.
Novak tried out for the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this year.
He has made NFL stops with the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs as well as the Cologne Centurions.
Novak was released by the Chiefs after missing a pair of field goals on Oct. 21, 2008. He kicked four field goals on Sept. 28, 2008 against the Denver Broncos.
For his NFL career, he has converted 19 of 30 field goals.
There’s nothing wrong with competition, in fact as Todd Haley will tell you it’s the best way to get your team better. But do the Chargers really think that Novak and his 63% accuracy can push Nate Kaeding for a job?
The best think that could happen for Kansas City is for Novak to have a killer camp and bump Kaeding. Not likely to happen, but there’s nothing wrong with wishful thinking.
