Nine Chiefs On First Injury Report

The Kansas City Chiefs released their first official injury report for Sunday’s matchup against the New York Giants and there remains plenty for Andy Reid and his coaching staff to worry about.

Nine players are listed, including five that were unable to practice. The remaining four were split between limited and full participation.

Of the Chiefs that did not participate in practice, four are starters with Brandon Flowers leading the way. The cornerback was limited last week and then was forced to leave the victory over the Philadelphia Eagles due to a nagging knee injury.

Another starter in the defensive backfield, Kendrick Lewis, was unable to practice. The safety made it through Thursday’s game healthy, but sprained his ankle on Monday. If he is unable to play this weekend the Chiefs would lean heavily on Husain Abdullah and Quintin Demps.

Tight end continues to be trouble for the offense, with both Anthony Fasano and Travis Kelce sitting out. Neither played last week and their chances of getting back out on the field against the Giants doesn’t look promising.

Three new additions to the report are Zombo, fullback Anthony Sherman and guard Jeff Allen. Sherman, like Zombo was able to participate fully, but Allen wasn’t able to practice thanks to a groin strain suffered against the Eagles.

The Giants injury report is one longer than the Chiefs, with two offensive linemen unable to practice.
