Leach, a three-time Pro Bowl fullback released by the Baltimore Ravens last week, is looking to pick a new team within the next two weeks. The Chiefs, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins and others have kicked the tires so far.
It looks like the number of fullbacks already on the roster won’t be a reason Leach stays away from Kansas City. Instead it’s a quickly tightening salary cap. With just $3.5 million left and other moves likely between now and training camp, GM John Dorsey would have to move other pieces around for anything to happen.
There’s also the idea that head coach Andy Reid is likely only to carry one fullback. That would likely have Sherman, who they acquired for Javier Arenas, and Wilson, taken in the sixth round of this year’s draft, looking for work elsewhere.
Are the Chiefs ready to ultimately trade Arenas and a draft pick for Leach even if Dorsey can make the math work?
