There are few things bigger than the NFL right now, so it’s rare that I’m surprised when the Kansas City Chiefs or any other team shows up in non-traditional places. But this could be one of the more bizarre spots you’ll ever see a sports franchise.
The Chiefs are identified by the National Rifle Association as “Anti-Gun Supporters” in a list on their official site. The Chiefs are listed under the “Anti-Gun Corporations/Corporate Heads”. It’s not a new list, but it is coming into light due to the recent increase in gun control discussions.
Those on the list are are described as “the most prominent national corporations that have lent their corporate support to gun control initiatives or taken position supporting gun control”.
Joining the Chiefs on the list is David Glass and the Kansas City Royals. The only other sports team included is the St. Louis Rams.
Other companies based in Missouri that made the list are American Century Companies, American Multi Cinemas Entertainment, Inc., Argosy Casino, BJC Health Systems, Blue Cross Blue Shield – Kansas City, Brooks Investments-Robert Brooks, Earthgrains – St. Louis, General American – St. Louis, Hallmark Cards, Health Midwest, James B. Nutter Co. – Kansas City, Mallinckrodt, Inc. – St. Louis, Silver Dollar City, Site Oil Company – St. Louis, Southwestern Bell Telephone- St. Louis, SSM Health System – St. Louis, St. Louis University, Sverdrup Corp. and Unity Health – St. Louis.
There’s also a long list of media outlets and actors/celebrities you can find on the official site, including the former host of ‘The Price Is Right”, Bob Barker. The 89-year-old was a bit shocked to be included.
You can see the full list here.
