Tamba Hali Joins Kansas City Chiefs Injury Report

There’s good news and bad news when it comes to the first injury report for the Kansas City Chiefs showdown with the Carolina Panthers. The good news is there are only five players, the second lowest number in the league. The bad news is all are key contributors and weren’t able to practice even on a limited basis.

Headlining the injury report is the amazingly durable Tamba Hali, who is dealing with a knee injury. There was no sign of anything slowing him down last weekend against the Denver Broncos, but clearly his status needs to be followed as the week goes along.

Joining Hali on the sidelines was Branden Albert, Kendrick Lewis, Ryan Lilja and Dexter McCluster. Albert was held out of last week’s game, while Lewis, Lilja and McCluster were all able to go against the Broncos.

I’m still surprised Lewis’ injury isn’t getting more attention. If you missed it, the safety was standing in front of a pile long after a play was over when he decided to throw his body into the players, leading with his shoulder. He got up shaking his arm and then later fell to the ground and was unable to return to the game.

Thankfully, no one with the Chiefs seems to be sounding the alarm about Lewis’ shoulder.

The Panthers started their week off with the slimmest injury report in the NFL. Though QB Cam Newton’s name jumps out, he was a full participant and will under center at Arrowhead on Sunday.
