The Kansas City Chiefs defense carried the team to a victory last week over the Oakland Raiders with a performance filled with big plays. When we handed out our game balls, it was Derrick Johnson that represented the unit, but the NFL decided it was Brandon Flowers that was the best player on defense in the conference.
Flowers was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, the first time in his career he’s earned the honor. The cornerback had two interceptions, including one returned 58 yards for a touchdown that drew more than a few middle fingers from the Raider fans in the black hole.
His performance against the Raiders was a nice bounce back for Flowers, who has struggled at times this season after being one of the best corners in the league for most of last season.
