The Kansas City Chiefs have announced their list of seven inactive players for today’s game against the Oakland Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium. If they are going to stay undefeated, they’ll have to do it without starting cornerback Brandon Flowers.
QB Tyler Bray, TE Anthony Fasano, CB Brandon Flowers, DT Jaye Howard, OL Rishaw Johnson, C Eric Kush, LB Dezman Moses
It was looking like Flowers would be able to play through a knee injury for the second week in a row, but then he hurt his healthy knee during practice on Friday. His absence will mean rookie corner Marcus Cooper, who has been impressive so far in a reserve role, will need to perform as a starter.
While the defensive backfield will be without Flowers, they will have starting safety Kendrick Lewis. He was listed as questionable on the final injury report, but did improve as the week went along.
Anthony Fasano will miss yet another week, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. He had been doubtful and hasn’t suited up for the Chiefs since Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. With Sean McGrath grabbing hold of the starting spot with the veteran out, whenever Fasano is able to play again he may find a limited role waiting.
The rest of the Chiefs inactives are healthy scratches and it should be noted that rookie LB Nico Johnson is not among them. He has only appeared in one game thanks to an ankle injury slowing him down at the beginning of the season.
