The Kansas City Chiefs will hit the road this weekend with a chance to clinch a playoff spot. Better yet, they could do it in Oakland against a Raiders team that is fresh off a brutal loss to the New York Jets.
After easily disposing of Washington last week, the Chiefs get to pile on a 4-9 Raiders squad that also looks like they’re ready for the offseason. Oakland has dropped three straight, five of six and were destined to be underdogs to the Chiefs, it was just a matter of by how much.
Facing a struggling Raiders team and coming off a solid beating of the Redskins has the Chiefs favored by 4.5 points. Considering there are still questions about just how much the Oakland offense will have to split between starting quarterback Matt McGloin and Terrelle Pryor and Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston potentially returning, the spread should probably be at least seven.
The Chiefs trip to The Black Hole as favorites is the fifth time they will be giving points to the home team this season. The first four times Kansas City was welcomed as a favorite? A perfect 4-0.
For their part, the Raiders have been home dogs four times this season, but are 2-2 against the spread and an even more impressive 7-4 ATS as the underdogs overall. Though they’ve managed to keep many of their games close this season, they couldn’t in the first matchup between these two teams.
Back in Week 6 the Chiefs were nine point favorites over the Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium and came away with a 24-7 victory. This time around Andy Reid’s crew shouldn’t have any issues going into Oakland winning by at least five points.
This weekend could play out perfectly: Chiefs beat the Raiders, clinch a playoff spot and put money in all of our pockets.
