With NFL teams allowed to release players today, the Kansas City Chiefs seem to be starting off by parting ways with Jackie Bates. The cornerback had finished the 2010 season on injured reserve, but won’t get a chance to prove he’s healthy, as Nick Wright broke the news on Twitter.
SCOOP (that I don’t know if anyone’s interested in)- The #Chiefs have released CB Jackie Bates.
Bates was hurt last year at the worst possible time for his career (not that there’s ever a good time to get hurt). He had just been given his first career start in place of an injured Brandon Flowers against the Seattle Seahakws when he went down with a knee injury.
The trip to IR also coincided with Matt Cassel’s appendectomy, leading the Chiefs to fill his vacant roster spot with then-practice squad QB Tyler Palko.
