Romeo Crennel’s agent, Joe Linta, told The Star’s Adam Teicher the ball is in Kansas City’s court.
“Would he take it if they offered the job? I suppose he would,” Linta said.
Linta said Crennel has already discussed the coordinator’s position with Haley. That suggests Haley has decided to make a change.
Crennel is coaching this week at the East-West Shrine Game in Orlando, Fla. Linta indicated Crennel would like to have something resolved with the Chiefs quickly.
“First shot (goes) to the Chiefs if it works out,” Linta said. “If not, four other (teams are) interested in him.”
Linta said Crennel spoke with the New York Giants this week about becoming their defensive coordinator.
I’d love to know what the delay is because everything came down with Charlie Weis so quickly. By all accounts, the Chiefs want Crennel and he wants the Chiefs, so get a deal done already!
It has to be especially frustrating for Clancy Pendergast as he sits wondering if he will have a job next season. Unless Haley specifically told Pendergast that he could stay on and work under Romeo, it seems unfair to him even coming off a very poor season for the Chiefs defense.
