The Kansas City Chiefs have stumbled out of the blocks this season to an ugly 1-4 record that has included calls by the media and fans for the ouster of starting QB Matt Cassel and GM Scott Pioli.
An injury has knocked out Cassel, but there’s been no sign that owner Clark Hunt is willing to make a change in the front office. Now comes a report from Jason La Canfora that not only is Pioli on the hot seat with Hunt, but that the owner has offered him a two-year contract extension.
According to the report, Pioli hasn’t signed the new contract because of the buyout language. Both the owner and general manager declined comment, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to any Chiefs fans.
If Pioli ends up signing this deal, we could see the anger level of Chiefs fans reach a scary point. The confidence in him had already mostly eroded and if Hunt gives him this sort of reward despite zero results, it could get ugly in Kansas City.
