Scouts Inc: Pioli Will Make Safe Pick

The final mock draft from Todd McShay and his friends at Scouts Inc. before their full seven-rounder has the Chiefs selecting a familiar name.

Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa

Scenario 1: Chiefs GM Scott Pioli takes the safest offensive tackle on the board.  Bulaga is a solid pick who could become a bookend starter opposite current LT Branden Albert.
Scenario 2: Should Okung get past the Redskins he would be the pick here.
Scenario 3: Berry is the highest-rated player left on the board and would fit a primary need, but the Chiefs will have to consider whether a safety is worth the money required to sign the No. 5 overall pick.

The pieces just don’t fit for Bulaga.  McShay talks about a safety not being worth big time money, but neither is a right tackle.  And if he is coming in to be the left tackle then we are back to the same old discussion about setting Albert’s career back by moving him to the other side of the line to a position he has never played.

This is the third time in as many mocks that McShay has pegged Bulaga for Kansas City.  While the only person that matters here is obviously Pioli, it’s troubling to continue to see the Chiefs connected to Bulaga.
