Shaun Smith Wins Appeal

The NFL fined Chiefs DE Shaun Smith two weeks ago for his actions during a game against the San Francisco 49ers.  Smith appealed and a day after the league handed out hundreds of thousands in fines for illegal hits, Smith announced on his Twitter feed that the fine was rescinded.

It’s going to be a good day because I won my appeal so am 10000 richer again

Congratulations to Smith, hopefully he buys himself something nice.

With that being said, what is the league thinking?  They get on their high horse about needing to protect players, then they pull back their fine of Smith after he clearly was doing some below the belt work.  Short of the NFL calling Anthony Davis and all of a sudden the tackle said it never happened, it just doesn’t make any sense.

Watch the video for a refresher.
