The Kansas City Chiefs released their seven gameday inactives for their nationally televised matchup with the San Diego Chargers and it reveals while one starter returns, another stays on the sidelines.
RB Nate Eachus, LB Bryan Kehl, C Bryan Mattison, NT Jerrell Powe, QB Brady Quinn, CB Stanford Routt, WR Devon Wylie
A name you don’t see is DE Glenn Dorsey! After missing the last four games with a calf injury, Dorsey is back active and in the starting lineup, which is huge for Romeo Crennel’s defense. His return pushes second-year lineman Powe to the inactive list.
Dorsey’s return is a huge lift, but the defense will miss Routt, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Even though he struggled badly against the Oakland Raiders, putting Javier Arenas and Jalil Brown on the field for more snaps isn’t something we should be celebrating.
Taking Routt’s spot on the active roster is undrafted free agent S Tysyn Hartman.
Eachus and Quinn were ruled out earlier in the week with head injuries and swapped spots with QB Ricky Stanzi and TE Steve Maneri. Stanzi will only see the field if starting QB Matt Cassel is injured, but Maneri could be a nice weapon as a safety valve if the Chargers pass rush is a factor.
